Mirror Mirror on the wall, I am my mother after all.

Dear Reader-

“Age is a case of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it don’t matter.” -Satchel Paige

As a beauty operator I hear countless comments about age and appearance, from both men and women. Grey hair is the reminder that time is marching right through our hair and faces, and with that march comes the anxiety of what is too young for us anymore. Society used to dictate that by 40 you should start cutting your hair off so as not appear to be clinging desperately to your youth. Many women would cut their hair shorter after they were married as a sign of maturity. We here at ATCT believe that whether you are young or old, if you want it and it suits you, you should have it. I hope to be a 90 year old wise woman with obviously colored hair, but I also plan to have the attitude (and the matching eyebrows) to go with it. (Nothing is worse to me than seeing an older woman with darkly colored hair and white-as-snow eyebrows. Don’t even get me started on the upper lip….) So- how do we reconcile ourselves to what could be a tad wilder fate…….?

Clip-in Extensions. I am serious- public beauty houses have clip-in extension hair in every color. Buy a couple of each color you love, clip them in and see what you think. You may want a whole head of a color once you see it, or you may just want the pieces mixed in with your natural. Either way, it is a great experiment in mapping out what could be. Grandma may say aren’t you a little old for that sort of thing? But As The Curl Turns believes that we are shaped by the light we let through us. “Young” and “old” alike can shine.

Warm Regards,

ATCT
